Work Experience
Work Experience
This unit is designed to help you prepare for and undertake a work experience placement with an employer.
Work experience is about letting you explore the world of work and what this involves.
You will assess your skills, qualities and personal goals and use these to help you identify a suitable work placement.
You will also get the chance to carry out tasks while you are on your placement.
Unit overview
To achieve this unit, you have to show that you know, understand or are able to do certain things which are known as learning outcomes.
There are four learning outcomes for you to work through:
1. Plan and arrange a work experience placement with limited tutor/ trainer support
2. Carry out allocated tasks during work experience under limited supervision
3. Work cooperatively with others in the analysis, planning and undertaking work experience
4. Review the contribution of the knowledge and skills gained through work experience to own personal social and vocational goals.
WORKIT
The WORKIT program gives you lots of information and activities (quizzes, games and assessment exercises) to help you before, during and after your work experience placement.
WORKIT is a completely interactive Intermediate 1 Unit which can lead to accreditation by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA).
Your school, college or centre may already be involved with WORKIT, so to find out more or register, ask your teacher or tutor. Skills Express recommends that you use the WORKIT program.
