
Preparing to Work
In this unit you will prepare for getting into and staying in work, by learning to develop the skills that employers value (employability skills).
You will learn about:
- How employers recruit
- How to apply for work
- What to expect in the work place
You will practise the skills you need to get a job: making applications, going for interview, and learn about managing your money.
You can refer to your tutor for advice at any stage, but you are expected to work with the minimum of support.

You will investigate what is involved in the major methods employers use to recruit. You will assess your employability strengths and weaknesses by taking part in an interview. This will enable you to identify areas for improvement.

Understand employability skills and keeping a job
In this outcome you will learn about the demands of the work place, the kinds of behaviour and attitude that will help you to achieve success at work. You will also investigate the effects of inappropriate behaviour on colleagues, customers and on your own progress.
You will investigate and explain the importance of managing your money.
